Pearl River Channel on CABLE TV


CABLE TV is now carrying the Pearl River Channel on Channel 29, which provides the audiences with the most updated news, talk shows and Cantonese drama series with high reputation and ratings, including the popular drama "Migrant Wives, Local Husbands", the political news column "GRT News", the civic news column "Focus of Today", and other entertaining variety shows. The programmes are highly received by audiences.

Launched in 1983, the Pearl River Channel is China's first TV channel broadcast in Cantonese, and the terrestrial channel with the best coverage, highest ratings and greatest influence in the Guangdong province.

The signature drama series "Migrant Wives, Local Husbands" airs every day at 5:15pm. It is the longest TV drama ever in China. Against the backdrop of the life of a family in Guangzhou, the humorous and fascinating story is a portrayal of the conflicts and difference among the elderly, son and "newcomer daughter-in-law". The story presents the life in modern cities and the local characteristics of Guangzhou, which is of high entertainment values. The attractive plot has earned the drama the highest regional ratings in the Guangdong history.

"GRT News", broadcasting every day at 6 pm, is a revamped programme based on the top-rating "News at 6:30". It is one of the most powerful news programmes in the Guangdong province, posing influence across the Hainan, Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces.
